Newton Accountability Committee: Parent Members Needed
We are looking for parents to join the Newton School Accountability Committee (NAC) for the upcoming school year (2008-2009). What is a School Accountability Committee?
The responsibilities of the NAC are mandated by Colorado Law and Littleton Public School Board. Responsibilities shall include the adoption of an annual plan to improve educational achievement and making recommendations concerning prioritization of expenditures by reviewing the school budget and providing input to the school principal. NAC will conduct business according to adopted bylaws by providing advisory input to the principal on key decisions including staffing plan, school priorities, significant policies and programs. NAC will take into account input from other school organizations like PTO, booster clubs, etc, as well as the community.
To join NAC you must first complete an application (available in the office). Applications will be reviewed at the May 15th NAC meeting. If there are more applicants than parent positions available, an election will be held in the fall. Please join us on this important school committee!
